My name is Jason Simus and I teach Chen style taijiquan (Tai Chi), Qigong, and Meditation
Chen style taijiquan basics, Tuesdays and Thursdays 9-10am
Qigong, Mondays and Wednesdays 9-10am
All classes held at Desert Willow Park and live-streamed on zoom.
These classes are for beginners, so no experience is necessary.
In the Chen style taiji basics class, we start with a brief warm-up, then a standing posture meditation (zhan zhuang), some Taiji fundamental movements with walking, balance, strength, relaxation, and coordination exercises, then Silk Reeling exercises which are similar to qigong--slow, gentle movements coordinated with deep breathing. These exercises are simple, but challenging, and form the basis for Chen style taijiquan (tai chi).
In the Qigong classes we do gentle stretching and strength-building movements coordinated with deep breathing.
